Dancer,Teacher and choreographer
Nkosinathi grew up in Johannesburg and started dancing at Moving into Dance in 1998. He auditioned successfully for the Dance Factory Productions of Oliver Twist, which toured to the National Arts Festival in Grahams town in 2000. Nkosinathi was invited to join The Dance Factory Youth Company, where he remained until he matriculated in 2005, working with accomplished choreographers, teachers and directors namely; Nelisiwe Xaba, Gregory Maqoma, Potia Maseqo, Dada Masilo, Sifiso Kweyama, P. J. Sabbag and Mamela Nyamza. The following year Nkosinathi was accepted into Jazzart Dance Theatre’s Training Programme. While in the training He was exposed to alot of different dance styles such a contemporary, ballet, gumboot, just to mentions a few and also working on contact work ,floor work, musicality and facilitating workshops. On graduating three years later, he was offered a contract with the Performance Company.
As a company member, he worked with Alfred Hinkle, Neo Muyanga, Sibongile Khumalo, Janine Neethling, Mark Fleishman, Faniswa Yisa, Mary Renolds, Jacqueline Manyaapelo, John Linden, Mziyanda Mancam, Ina Wichterich-Mogane, Sbonakaliso Ndaba, Lara Foot and Jay Pather. He performed in many Jazzart productions including Guardian of the Flame (2005), I am Cinnamon (2008), Gatherings (2008), Infecting the City (2006 – 2009), Cargo (2006 – 2007), Aida (Cape Town Opera 2008), Bolero (Dance Umbrella 2008), Partly God (2009), First Draught (Dance Umbrella 2010), Ihaw’Elisha (2010), Cantico (2011 and 2012), Waiting for Rain (2011), the Couch (Dance Umbrella 2012) and Qaphela Ceasar (Dance Umbrella 2012),Bikos Quest 2011 King Williamstown ,Arts cape theatre and Mozambique, at the moment age 27 has ventured out into the freelance world this is an opportunity to learn and gain as much knowledge of the performing industry outs side of a professional company set up
Nkosinathi coordinates Jazzart’s open dance classes, has been doing so from 2010 until 2013, Dance Joint, and has choreographed for Jazzart’s Student Concert in 2007 and 2008. He also has a diploma from UNISA in Adult Basic Education and Marketing Certificate from UCT and Getsmarter
Currently at age 29 working as a freelance performer,teacher ,choreographer and Life style model in both theatre work and television,in the past 2 years I have had the pleasure of working with
